At Trafford Vet, we provide expert care with a gentle touch — from check-ups and diagnostics to treatment and prevention — keeping your furry friends happy and healthy.
Preventative care
Flea & worm treatment
At Trafford Vet, we take the time to assess each pet individually, carefully considering their lifestyle, environment, age, and specific health risks rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. This allows us to make honest, tailored recommendations that truly suit your pet’s needs and provide the most appropriate level of protection and care. Preventative healthcare plays a vital role in helping pets live longer, healthier lives by reducing the risk of avoidable illness and detecting problems early. To make this essential care more accessible and affordable, the cost can be spread into manageable monthly payments through our Practice Health Plan, giving you peace of mind without unexpected expenses.
Vaccinations
Kitten Vaccinations
We offer tailored vaccination courses for kittens based on whether they will live primarily indoors or have access to the outdoors. The primary vaccination course begins at 9 weeks of age with a follow up at 12 weeks, ensuring your kitten is protected during these early, vulnerable stages of life. These vaccinations help defend against serious and potentially life-threatening diseases, giving your kitten the best possible start. Each appointment also includes a full health check and the opportunity to discuss nutrition, parasite control, neutering, and general kitten care with our veterinary team.
Puppy Vaccinations
Our puppy vaccination course normally begins at 8 and 12 weeks of age, providing essential protection against a range of dangerous infectious diseases. To offer additional security, we also strongly recommend an extra Parvovirus booster at 20–22 weeks old, particularly for puppies that are out socialising, attending training classes, or walking in public areas. Every vaccination visit includes a full health check and plenty of time to discuss your puppy’s development, behaviour, diet, and ongoing preventative care.
Neutering
Cats can usually be neutered from around 18 weeks of age, depending on their size and development. For dogs, the recommended timing is influenced by breed and expected adult size, using the latest breed-specific research. Rather than applying a single guideline to all, we carefully assess the whole picture for each individual dog to make the most appropriate recommendation.
Dental care
At Trafford Vet, we understand how important good dental health is to your pet’s overall wellbeing. Our dental services help prevent and treat common problems such as plaque build-up, gum disease, tooth loss, and oral pain, which can also affect the heart, liver, and kidneys if left untreated. We offer thorough dental examinations, professional cleaning, and extractions where necessary, all carried out under careful anaesthetic monitoring. We also provide tailored advice on home dental care to help keep your pet’s teeth and gums healthy between visits.
Microchipping
Microchipping is a simple, safe, and permanent way to help ensure your pet can be quickly reunited with you should they ever go missing. At Trafford Vet, we offer quick and pain-minimised microchipping for cats, dogs, and other suitable pets, carried out by our trained team. The tiny chip is placed just under the skin and contains a unique identification number linked to your contact details on a national database. It’s a small procedure that offers lifelong peace of mind and is a legal requirement for dogs in the UK.

Weight clinic
Our free weight clinics, led by our experienced veterinary nurses, are designed to support your pet’s long-term health and wellbeing. During these clinics, we offer personalised weight management plans, regular monitoring, nutritional advice, and ongoing encouragement to help you and your pet stay on track. It’s a supportive, no-judgement service focused on keeping pets in Trafford happier, more active, and pain-free for longer.
